Nowadays, many parents let their children to eat crisps, sweets and fizzy drinks, which are categorized as junk food. They think that it is better to give them something to eat (like this junk food) than nothing to eat. Junk food means food, which contains lot of fat or sugar or both and contains less of nutrition in it. There are many reasons why parents might be worried if their children eat a lot of junk food. A diet that is full of sugar and fat and low in fruit and vegetables increases risk of illnesses, including heart disease, stroke and certain cancers. This article stated that they are not trying to say that the odd glass of fizzy drink will cause irreparable damage to children's health but the author want to emphasize that Junk Food is ok for special occasion only, like parties. Maybe some parent will start questioning, if junk food is bad, why it is still be sold all around the world. The answer is because these foods are cheap to produce, have a long shelf life, are easy to transport from its manufacture to every store in the city. Junk food usually becomes problems for those who are overweight. You may wonder, if my children are not overweight, so it is ok to consume junk food. The answer is NOT! No matter how skinny your children are, junk food is bad for health. A skinny child may have nutrition problems and parents need to maintain their nutrition by supplying healthy food such as vegetables, fruits, but not junk food.
