Potatoes can be found all around the world. It is one of the most widely grown perennial crops and is one of the low cost staple food items of the poor population all over the world. We can find much health advantages in potatoes. Potatoes are one of the richest sources of starch, vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. It contains very low fat (just 0.1 g per100 g) and no cholesterol. The fact also shows that fresh potato skin as well as flesh is good source of antioxidant vitamin. However, when potatoes are consumed in sufficient amounts, potatoes may cause headache, weakness, muscle cramps and, in severe cases loss of consciousness and coma; however, poisoning from potatoes occurs very rarely.
